CAIRO – 11 September 2017: Borussia Dortmund will be without their captain, Marcel Schmelzer, for six weeks after a partial tear of his ankle joint. He picked up his injury in yesterday`s match against SC Freiburg in the Bundesliga (German League).

Schmelzer was just back after a two-month absence for a similar injury in pre-season.

He is set to miss Champions League clashes with Tottenham and Real Madrid, as well as domestic fixtures including a home meeting with RB Leipzig.

Dortmund is preparing to face Tottenham Hotspur in its first clash in the UEFA Champions League at Wembley Stadium next Wednesday.

It is worth to mention that Borussia Dortmund leads the Bundesliga`s table with 7 points after they won two matches against Wolfsburg and Herta Berlin before they could not find a way through and laboured to a 0-0 draw against SC Freiburg.
